The purpose of preschool education, according to the new basic curriculum, is to support the overall development of the child, which should be implemented in the process of care, upbringing and education, which allows the child to reveal his own abilities, activities and gather his own experience.

Kindergarten tasks include:
•    support multi-directional activity of the child by organizing conditions favorable for gaining experience in the physical, emotional, social and cognitive sphere of his development,
•    ensuring the proper organization of conditions favorable for children to gain experience, which will allow them to continue their cognitive processes,
•    systematic support for the child's development, which will allow him to reach a level that allows him to start school.

Regarding the child's cognitive development in mathematical skills, he should, among other things:
•    to express their creative expression in construction activities, games, determining the location of objects, their number, shape, size, comparison according to the selected feature,
•    classify objects according to, for example, size, color, shape, purpose,
• arrange objects by groups, lines, rhythms,
•    experiment, evaluate, predict,
•    determine the directions and location of objects in relation to oneself,
•    count items in sets and use ordinal numbers,
•    recognize numbers representing numbers from 0 to 10.

"Mathematics is neither difficult nor boring
Especially if we become friends with her from an early age
Mathematics is the measure of everything..." (Aristotle)

Therefore, mathematical play is very important in the development of children from an early age. It gives an opportunity to act, count, think logically, compare and draw conclusions. Daily games can help children's development in this regard. In a properly equipped math corner, children can be offered interesting math games and games that can spread and improve the skills of classification, comparison, counting, addition and subtraction. We can use many different objects, games and other things to arrange math corners. In such a corner you can find, for example:
•    Thematic sets
•    Numicon sets
•    Puzzles
•    Sometimes, according to the season: cones, chestnuts, sticks
•    Pencils for conversion / comparison of length, width, shape
•    Building designers
•    Wooden constructors
•    Tangrams / Tetris / Pyramids
•    Cubes and mosaics
•    Bizyboards

Remember that games should be adapted to the abilities and skills of the child.
