Motivation is one of the most important criteria of the educational process and the success of learning. Our goal as teachers is to motivate our students. Is there anything better for teachers than teaching motivated and curious students?

But, unfortunately, in everyday life we often encounter the fact that some students are not interested in the subject or content of the current lesson. What should be done now? How can we ensure that we motivate our students for a subject or topic, so that they can even increase their motivation, so that they enjoy learning in the long run?

Types of motivation

There are two types of motivation:

  • internal motivation
  • external motivation

If there is no internal motivation, you need external help. This external help, that is, external motivation, can come from the teacher. When it works well, extrinsic motivation becomes intrinsic.

Here you can find out how you can use various tips to motivate your students in foreign language lessons.

Tip 1. Create your own video

Language level: A1-C1

Topic: Fashion (A1)

Objectives:

  • encourage creativity
  • improve speaking skills

Preparation:

In the video, students answer fashion questions and present their fashion style with their real clothes. Registration is carried out using your own mobile phone.

  • Are you interested in fashion?
  • What do you like to wear?
  • How much money do you spend on clothes?
  • Where do you buy your clothes?
  • What is your favorite item of clothing?
