Speech defects in a child can cause a number of communication problems

This can lead to difficulties in building relationships, communicating with others and, as a result, in everyday activities.

In the event that parents or teachers notice problems in the child's communication, appropriate measures should be taken, and it is often advisable to visit a speech therapist. Speech therapy makes it possible to eliminate or reduce speech disorders. Very often, only exercises with a speech therapist are not enough, and the therapy should be continued at home to stimulate the correct speech development of the child. Homework reinforces the skills your child has learned while working at home.

The development of children's speech and pronunciation should be taken care of from an early age. While playing with the child, you can interweave different game forms that will simultaneously form the correct pronunciation. But it should be remembered that under no circumstances should you choose exercises on your own and must consult a speech therapist or neurologist. Independent selection of exercises can give the opposite effect to the planned one, for example, we can strengthen the wrong muscle group that is needed.

The suggested games and exercises are certainly one of the ideas for spending time with your own child. Their goal is to stimulate the development of speech by training auditory memory, rhythm, breathing exercises and improving the articulatory apparatus.

Examples of speech exercises that parents can perform together with their child in everyday situations:

Dandelions:
Each child gets a colored feather, throws it up and blows it so that it stays in the air as long as possible. The most important thing is for the baby to breathe in through the nose and out through the mouth.

Teleportation:
Carrying small objects using, for example, a straw.

Two cats:
Explain to the child that her task is to play the role of a kitten - the kitten drinks milk (quick movements of the tongue back and forth), the kitten licks itself (the tip of the tongue goes around the wide open lips).

Balloon games:
Let's start the fun by inflating the ball. If the child has not yet acquired this skill, it is important that he tries and blows towards the opening of the ball.

Then invite the child to play "Who will move the balloon next?". The challenge is to try to blow the balloon as far as possible.

Exchange of roles:
Explain to the child that his task is to "transform" into a given animal and imitate its voice, for example, a cat, dog, cow, chicken, rooster, duck, geese, etc., and then imitate the sounds of transport: car, train, motorcycle, tractor, etc.

Ball race:
A ball racing game where you have to blow a ping pong ball. The first ball to reach the finish line wins.

Pen:
We put the feather on the table and explain to the child that his task is to blow on the feather so that it moves on the table, but does not fall.

Birds singing:
After listening to a poem about birds, we play to the imitation of birds singing.

Example:

Tru lu lu lu l ulu

Pio pio lo lo lo lo lo

Cook! Cook!

Pee Pee Pee

We sing with the children very quietly and loudly.
